General Cyberpunk Research

The definition of cyberpunk is: A genre of science fiction set in a lawless subculture of an oppressive society dominated by computer technology.

The Cyber in cyber punk means relating to or characteristic or the culture of computers, information technology, and virtual reality.

The punk in cyber punk relates to the subculture around the punk rocks society and the form of wear they used to use.

Here is a mind map on the word “Cyberpunk” that I created using (Lucidchart.com). In this mind map I have explored the different sections that I think makes up the theme Cyberpunk. I have used multiple games that I have listed to help me with gathering research on the theme, I have also come up with two main topics on which I can base my game around, these topics are Vehicles(Racing) and Apocalypse(Shooter). At this point in time I am thinking about creating a mix of the two and having a combat racing game. Other points  have explored are: Films, Games, Colours, Characters, and one of my favorites Robotics.

 

Here is a mood board on cyber punk character designs. It features multiple pictures, sketches, and concepts of cyberpunk themed characters from films, games and different concept pieces. Most of the character have very bright hair colours, mechanical components, Weapons. I have really enjoyed creating this mood board as I like the art style and the colour pallet and am looking forward to creating a game in this style.

 

Here is a mood board on Cyberpunk weapons. It features multiple designs of different weapon types including: Guns, Swords, Cybernetics, Robots and others. A lot of the weapons either fire lasers or Are lasers or are in some way colorfully mechanical. I like this style of weapon design.

 

Here is a mind map for Cyberpunk Vehicles. It consists of different designs of: Hover bikes, Hover Cars, Motorbikes, Cars, Disc bikes and more.  Most of the vehicles in this mind map have some sort of hovering or flying feature with a lot of neon lights. Most of the cars are sleek and thin. there are also a  lot of different motorbike designs and concepts. Most of the pictures are concept art although a few are models and photos of real things.

 

Here is a mood board on Cyber punk buildings. it consists mainly of concept art pieces and game photos. Most of the buildings in this mood board are very tall and lit up in fluorescent neon lighting and writing on the sides. A lot of the buildings look very electronic and futuristic with a lot of billboards s on the sides of them.
